I am a physician currently working as a hospitalist (General internal medicine doctor). My current employer is Sponsoring my green card as EV to category/rest of the world. My goal is to pursue fellowship and become an endocrinologist. I have interviewed for fellowship position that starts July 1 of next year. By the time my I-485 will have been filed more than 180 days which technically enables me to change jobs by porting I-485 given that I have EAD. However, my concern and the crux of the question is the following: Will USCIS regard fellowship position as “similar line of work” as hospitalist job and approve porting I-485? Have you seen anyone on the same boat as I am and what was their outcome? If it’s likely or unlikely, what kind of likelihood are we talking about? Thanks for answering my questions.
