I was arrested for a felony charge for Larceny over a $75 used bed frame, I had my fingerprint taken and my mugshot. The reason was my ex-wife had reported the charge on her credit card which I had mistakenly used on my PayPal account. Anyways this ridiculous charge was dismissed because she initiated the reversal of charges not me. My criminal lawyer based on advice of his other Lawyer friends advised me to not get the record expunged until I get my citizenship because I would have no legal record of the charges getting dismissed and would affect my immigration process for Green card and citizenship. If that’s not the case, I would like to get the records expunged so it doesn’t appear on my employment background checks or when people search for my name on Google. Should I go ahead and expunge the arrest record or do it after I obtain my US citizenship?
