Question

Hi, My parents came to the US on a visitor visa in August 2020 from India. They were scheduled to return to India after 6 months in February 2021. However, due to the COVID situation, we filed for extending their stay for 6 more months and now they are scheduled to return in August 2021. The USCIS online case status for their Forms I-539, Application To Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status currently says "Fingerprint fee was received". Their B1/B2 visitor visa was issued in November 2011 and is going to expire in November 2021. Given that the COVID situation has worsened in India and to avoid the risk of international travel, my question is do they have an option to renew their visitor visa while they are still in the US and request to extend their stay for 6 more months (until February 2022). Thanks.
