PR going away to study and choices to help my brother move

Hello, please tell me my choices.I want to go study abroad. I am a permanent resident and have been since July 2008. I have 2 choices: go for 2 years or go for 1 year. I am not in the US now and haven't been for 3 months. I also was traveling abroad for 1 month last year. Aside from that,I stayed in the country. Can I choose either of options, keep my residency and time toward citizenship not lost? Is there a chance I can use N-470 in my case? How will it affect my choices if I choose to stay outside of the US for a little longer now? Also, I have brother who wants to move to the US. Can I as a PR help him do that?Even after I get citizenship, the approx. wait for category 4 is 11 years. Are there any other options? Can I help him get a work visa or some other visa instead? Thank you.
Olga
