Background :
I am a Green Card (PRC) holder since last year and have been out of US for more than 10 months (Understand from consulate that one can stay out of US without Returning Permit for a period of less than 12 month). Owing to my wife's continuous sickness, I further intend to be away from US for another 12 months.

I want to visit US in next few days, when I want to file I-131 (requesting for another 12 months of stay away from US to be granted to me)(as I understand one can stay away from US in total of 2 years after one gets the GC).

Question :
After filing I – 131, can I leave US or do I essentially have to go for finger printing (though GC itself has my finger print) and will that imply that I must stayput in US for 6 - 8weeks (until finger printing is over)?
