Q.

H1B to H4 and filing of I-539

Dear Friends,

I have a H1B visa. I recently resigned from my job. It was 8 days ago. I now want to file I-539 and change my status to H4. My husband is working on a H1B visa.

I have a doubt regarding one of the questions on form I-539. What do I answer for the following question:

Q) Have you done anything that violated the terms of the nonimmigrant status you now hold?

Technically I am out of H1B status the day I resign from my job. So does that mean I need to answer YES to this question? Will that have any serious consequences? It has only been 8 days.

Thanks.
