Continuous Residency requirement for Naturalization

Hi,

I got my permanent residency on March 15, 2005. I need to be out of States for some time. By the time I can apply for naturalization, I will have 3 big periods when I'll be out of the country, each less than 180 days though. I already have physical presence of more than 2.5 years. I have 2 question.

1. From the time I apply until the interview I should maintain continuous residency. For how long I must be physically present in the country, or there is no physical stay requirement during this period (absence of no more than 180 days is enough)?

2. Can I apply (or me parents apply for me) while I'm abroad?

Thank you,
Nick
