How to reinstate L1 status by going out of country

I am currently working in company A on L1 visa from oct-1-07 to till date (Mar-22-09). My L1 visa is valid till Dec-15-09. Company B applied COS from L1-H1 on April-1-08. My COS got approved with effective date Oct-1-08. But I didn't join Company B till now, because no projects.

1) Company B said they are going to cancel My H1 immediately. So provided they cancel my H1 on Apr-1-09. I am travelling to india on May-22-09 to reinstate my L1 status. So what will be my status in the time between Apr-1-09 and May-22-09 ?

2) I am in a very difficult situation to go out of country (to reset L1 status) till May-21-09(because no leave available from company A till then). Can I go to Mexico on one friday and return next day inorder to reset L1 status? If not possible. why?
