Q.

J1 visa and B1 visa status

In Feb 2009, I was granted a 10 years multiple entry B1/B2 Visa in Mumbai, India. In Feb 2011, I was granted a J1 visa for research in Mumbai(from March 15 2011 to March 15 2012) to which 212e(2 year home country restriction requirement) applies. On my passport however, nothing was stamped on the B1 visa(like cancelled or terminated). So current my passport has 2 visas stamped. I want to know if my 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa is still valid? I intend to terminate my J1 position on Dec 31 2011 due to which i need to leave US immediately. Can i use my B1 visa to come back? If not, then can i apply for a new B1 visa? Also, will terminating my J1 position affect my future chances of getting a J1 visa(for medical residency)?
