I am presently in the US on F1 visa. I will be going to my home country in 4 weeks. I got a residency to be done under J1 visa. So I am planning to get my DS2019 for me and my wife before I leave the US to my home country. My wife has a 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa and she is in my home country. I was wondering if both of us can go for the J visa (my J1 and her J2) interview together in a single interview or should I be in the US on the J1 before she can go ahead with the interview and getting her J2? I was told we cant go together and I need to be maintaining my J1 status before she can come? Please clarify how to get J1 and J2 visa in the shortest time, possibly when am there in my home country?? thank you.
