Green card for brother
I recently became a US citizen. Can I apply for a green card for my brother, who is overseas, and is more than 21 yrs old? How long will it take to get the green card?
thanks.

Thank you for your question.
Yes, as a U.S. citizen, you may petition for your brother. You would petition for him by filing Form I-130 with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services here in the United States. Please keep in mind, however, that there is a significant backlog in this category and the wait will be more than ten years. If you brother wishes to immigrate to the United States before then, he may wish to explore other options. |
