Q.

H4 visa

My OPT ended on August 19, 2009. My employer company is just now starting the application for H1B for me (for October 1, 2009).

My wife had been in F-2 status with me in this country. She has to now file for H4.

Can that be done ourself (without law firm's assistance)? Do we have to wait till October 1 for my H1b to be issued to start the process?
