H1 transfer and Unemployment Issue

Hi,
My H1B is under process from Company X. I got a better job offer from a reputed finance company, I want to file H1 transfer. Today is 23rd Spet, I am assuming that on or before 1st OCT'2008, I will hear on my H1 case. If I get H Visa then my new company want to file transfer in the month of November. But they know after Septermber 30th, I can no longer work for them.Right now they pay me from a subsidar company of theirs.

Can I go on a leave during this one month period. My new co. is saying to wait one more mont. I have good terms with my old company X. So what should I do, can I go on a leave and remain in status or work for the motnh of October with company X and get paid through them ti remain in status which does not affect my H1 Transfer in following motnh.
Thanks
