Q.

Transitioning from H1 to F1 and then back to H1

Hello,

I enrolled for a phd program (on F1) and after 5 years, dropped out and started work on H1 ( I got my MS degree along the way). My phd advisor is giving me a chance to come back and finish my degree from where I left (but only as a full-time student - F1). I would like to know the following :

- after I finish the degree, would I be eligible for a H1 with a 6 year term ? ( my present H1 was issued in Oct 2004 and will expire Oct 2010 )

- I used 6 months of OPT and 5 months of CPT prior to getting my MS degree. When I go back to school and get my phd, will I be able to get OPT / CPT time before I can get a H1 again ? If so, for how long ?
