Q.

H4 and H1B

My wife was on H4 from my company that was valid thru 04OCT2008 (same as I-94 date) and we did not apply for H4 extension as she got H1B from another Company, which is valid from 01OcT2008. New I-94 that came with H1B approval is valid thru 2011. but she hasn't been working from the begining.
Now my question to you is:
1. How long she can stay legal with no job?
2. can we apply for old H4 extension now? If yes, is payslip required to enclose with filing documents.
3. what is the significance of having numbers same on both the I-94s (H4 and H1)
please advise.
