Change of status application

Hi,
I am currently working on L1 visa for employer A. I have an approved H1 petition with COS filed by employer B in 2008. The change of status was effective Oct 1, however, I travelled out of US on Sep 26 and came back after October 1 and was given I-94 on L1 visa at point of entry. I have continued to work for my L1 employer since.

Now, I want to switch to employer B on H1. If I do not wish to go to my homecountry and get the approved H1 petition stamped, can my employer B file for a change of status (from L1 to H1) ? If yes, can you give me details regarding the forms and procedure that my employer B will need to follow ?

Thank You !
