H1 Extension

Hello

My H1 B expired on 30 Sep 2011 and I have a I-94 that is Valid till 10 Oct 2011.
My employer is waiting for LCA approval to file the extension which might go slightly beyond 10 Oct.(LCA applied couple of days before)
Can you pls advice me if -
a. I can stay after 10 Oct 2011 if the extension has not been filed on or before 10 Oct?
What are the future implications if I stay beyond 10 Oct without the H1 extension being filed, will I have problems in future when I apply for any US visas ?
Is there a grace period to leave the country, want to wait till last minute to see if extension is filed.
b. Can I work from Sep 30 to Oct 10 ?
c. Pls advice how many days it takes to get LCA approval these days ?
