Q.

H1b Reset rules

I am an Indian citizen who was on H1B with same employer from October 2007 to March 2011 (extended for 3 years on 31 August 2010).

I internally relocated to UK in March 2011. I am interested in keeping option of coming back with new 6 year H1B stint open., but might need to visit soon for personal reasons.

* Do I need to be outside USA for 1 consecutive year (March 2012) for reset to apply, or is it okay to go on tourist visit for 2 weeks next month?

* I don't know the state of my H1 visa (valid till 2013) - assuming HR cancelled it. In either case, to go on a personal visit, I would need to apply for new tourist (B1) visa, right?

* If my plan is to eventually come back on new 6 year h1 visa, does the state of my current H1 visa make any difference?

Thanks
