Q.

H1 to L2 beyond 6 years. I140 approved

I'm currently in the 8th year of my H1B visa. My current visa is valid till 2014. My I140 was approved with a previous employer with a priority date in Sep 2007. My wife is currently on a L1 Visa and has another 2.5 years remaining.

Due to market conditions, it is possible that I might get laid off from my current company in the next few months. If that happens,
1. Would it be possible for me to shift to a L2 visa and be eligible to work?
2. If not, can I atleast remain in the country as a dependent and not work?
3. Also, if I find a new H1B later, can I continue to use my current priority date?

Please advice...
