I work for a non profit hospital on OPT, and I will be going on H1 B soon since they have filed an application for me. The hospital asked me to teach an aerobic class for employees and they give me a check of about $100-200 per month for it.They said the would give me a 1099 form for tax at the end of the year.I have only received one cheque till now. Is it legal for me to get a 1099 form for additional income from my H1 B employer and will it affect my status? Can the employers pay me in a way that will not affect my H1 status?
