Switching job at end of 6th yr H1B using approved I140

I am on H1B & changing my job. My H1B(6yr) expires soon. I have a approved I140 from my current employer & a 2009 PD. My new employer will apply for the H1B(transfer+extn) asap in PP & will let me wait till the H1B transfer is approved before I join.
-Can I transfer & extend the H1B with existing I140? Any issues for a 3 yr extension?I only have the I140 receipt number.
My current employer will revoke the I140 6 months later. My new employer will restart the GC process ASAP.
-Will I be in legal status if the old I140 is revoked before new I140/LCA is approved?
-If old I140 is revoked & new I140 is denied, what's my legal status? If my H1B was extended for 3 yrs, can I change jobs?
-If I797 states "Valid from 03/13/08 to 03/12/11", is last date to file extension 03/12/11 03/11/11?
