Q.

Laid off on H1B

I have been told that 12/31/2010 will be my last day at work.I'm currently working for Company A who sponsored my H1B and I'm currently working as its contractor for their client Company B at their location in Los Angeles,CA.Company A doesn't have any other clients except Company A and hence I'm asked by Company A to find a job as soon as possible after 12/31/2010 on my own.In that case, how much time can I legally stay unemployed being on H1B?Is it 30 or 60 days?Lets say I find a job on 02/05/2011,then do I need to produce the paystub for January to the new company A for H1B transfer because if that is the case then I won't be able to do it since my Company A has denied to run payroll after I lose my job on 12/31/2010.Please suggest me the best way to remain in status and find a job.
