Hi,

My friend has gone for H1b visa stamping in Hyderabad, India and there was an RFE in his case. He submitted all the required docs inculding original I797 Copy and got the stamping done.

The consulate has mispalced his original I797 and saying now they didn't have it with them. My friend has a valid US visa stamping for another 6 months and has a photocopy of I797 with him.

1. Can he tarvel with a photocopy of I797 to US? what does he can say to officer at port of entry?

2. If he has to apply for a original copy again, what are the procedures and how long it does it will take ?

Please help , it is very urgent .
