Visiting Canada on H4 Stamp with H1B Petition Approved

Hi,

I am on H4 visa since Feb 2006 as dependent to my Husband. I have H4 visa stamped on my passport which is valid till June 30 2011. I am physical therapist by profession. I filed my H1B petition this year in April which just got approved. My employer is sending me original i797. The approval date on i797 is Sep27 2010 and says its valid from Oct 01 2010 till Sep 30 2011.

Question:
Before I heard about H1B approval, I had already planned for a trip to Canada from Oct 8th till Oct 18th. I am flying from Chicago to Calgary and back to Chicago via Dallas. My question is - IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO TRAVEL TO CANADA WITH H4 STAMP? Woulnt I be asked to show H1B stamp? Any Issues I met get into ?
Note: I have not started working yet on H1B.
>I am Citizen of India.

Regards
Kiran
