I am currently employed full time on an H1-B status and need to discontinue work for some time. I will be converting to a H4 status.
1. When I am ready to start work again and find an employer that is ready to sponsor me, would I have to apply for a fresh H1-B? Would I be considered against the H1-B cap?
2. Would I be able to apply and get the change of status processed right away and get a H1-B approval in a few weeks or will I need to apply in April when the visas are released and wait till October to start work?
3. Is there anything else that I need to be aware of before I change my status from H1-B to H4? H4 to H1-B?
