My question might already have been asked related to H1 transfer.

I'm currently employed full-time (CompA) and need to move to contract position to continue my GC processing (CompB). My question here is, can i move to CompB before H1 transfer receipt itself? CompB is assuring that the transfer always goes through, but my concern is, what if there is an RFE during the transfer. What will my legal status if there is an RFE? I can't use my existing H1 because CompA will cancel my H1. What is the safest approach here?
