Q.

Laid off on H1B

My wife is laid off on 6/5 giving a one month notice, so her official last working day (even though she doesn't need to go to office now) on July 5th. After words she will be getting Severance Pay for 11 weeks (until September 20). As per company policy her Severance Pay will will come on pay dates similar to her Pay check (by weekly). As it is a big company (McKesson) they usally dont revoke H1B.

Is she legally entitled to stay on H1B until 20th September? She is searching for a job but doesn't seem to get it by July 5th.

Is this severance pay check can be be used as a pay check when she finds a job (hopefully she will find a job before 20th sept)?

I am here on H1B as well. What are her options?
