H1 stamping, layoff
My H1 is approved till Oct 2012 and have a valid I-797. But my passport stamp expired in Oct 2009. I was told I will be laid off in 30 days from now.
I heard if the passport stamp has expired and you transfer H1, you must go to home country (India) to get stamped.
If your stamp has not expired and you transfer H1 you can just get stamped at the US border.
Is this true? If so, is it wise to go right now before my last working day to the border (Mexico or Canada) and get stamped?
