Q.

Fired during OPT but have an Approved H-1

I have an approved H-1 which would be active from Oct 2010. But I was fired on Apr 21 a week after approval notice came. My company said they would inform USCIS of termination and ask for cancellation of H-1. If I join a new company would the next company have to do a completely new petition? Is there a possibility they can transfer my approved H-1? Pls let me know if there is any way possible for transfer, since finding a job with OPT is harder and many employers prefer to transfer H-1 than file a new petition
