Q.

6th year H1b extension

I am currently in my 6th year of my H1B which will end on Sep 30th 2010. I have an approved labor and in the process of filing my I-140. When I transferred my H1b on Feb 1 2009 and got a new H1b- it had validity until Feb 1st 2012 - I do not know why I got the new H1b until Feb 1st 2012, I was expecting to be valid until Sep 30th 2010 (that is when my 6 years o H1b will be ending). I did not have either my labor or I-140 filed when I made the switch from company A to company B, so I have no idea why I got a 3 year H1b renewal when I changed companies.

One of the issues or questions that I have is, should I be filing for my 6th year extension even though the newH1 says it is valid until 2012? If someone can please help me answering this question, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you
