Q.

Applying Unemployment benefits terminated H1-B applied for B2

Indian citizen, on H1-B visa start Feb 2008 until terminated from employment Feb 10, 2010 reason"unpaid medical leave cannot be extended" as I was on unpaid medical leave due to accident,informed me that my H1-B visa status was revoked.applied to USCIS for extension of stay (form I-539) to change status to B1-B2 until May31,2010 stating medical reasons to
leave the country until fit to leave which my treating doctor certified. able to work now,however,unable to move household belongings as some of fractures faced in accident are healing.want to claim unemployment benefits,am I eligible? employment commission office (employment state-VA) told I must apply before they determine if I am eligible, should I apply for them to determine eligibility? any legal repercussions for later US reentry
