Q.

L1 to H1 Transfer

I am a L1 B Visa holder with company A with L1 expiry-April 2011and have applied for a H1B
petition along with Change of Status(COS) with company B in March09. The H1B petition was approved in Aug09 with COS effective from Oct1st. I have been to India in September 22nd on my current visa L1B and entered US in Oct 5, 2009 with my existing L1B visa from company A.I did not go for any stamping(L1 or H1)between sep25-Oct5 in India. I am still working with company A on same L1B from Oct, 09 till today. So my assumption is that once if we go out of US and enter back on existing L1B after effective date(Oct1st),my Visa status will no longer change to H1B. Correct? what is my current valid visa status? Is my H1b stil valid? If yes,What is the process to
get converted from L1 to H1(COS or H1stamp)
