H1B extension when passport is about to expire
My work authorization/visa is expiring on Apr 19, 2010 and my passport is expiring on Oct 09, 2010. My company says that I need to get my passport renewed before my H1 extention application can be filed as I may receive the approval till my passport expiry.
I would like to know if I can use my current passport (expiring in Oct 2010) for the application of H1 extention? Does the H1 extention dates depend on passport validity dates?
The reason I am concerned is that I have heard that these days passport issuance by Indian counselate at Washington may itself take around 6 weeks and this could delay my visa extention application.
