Q.

H1 to H4

Hi,due to personal reasons my wife would like to quit the job (currently on H1B) and convert to H4.

Say if she decide to quit her job by 03/19/10, and she files COS on 03/15 and gets approval of H4 by 05/19/2010

1) What is the best time to apply for COS if she decides to quit by 03/19/2010? Is week before enough?
2) Does she has to keep working until she gets her H4 approval or she can quit as soon as I-539 is filed
3)what is her status from 03/19 to 05/19?
4) When does her H1B time stop counting? Is it after only her COS approval or is right away after it is filed?
5) Does she has to leave the country for H4 stamping?
6) if during the H4 processing from 03/19 to 05/19, she gets another job what is the process to get onto H1 again? Does she come under h1B quota?
