In June 2008, CompanyA Filed for my H1 transfer. It was approved and the validity is till 2/15/2011. My wife and I had Visa stamping in our passports from old company until May 30, 2009. We applied for her H1 in March 2008 and got approval. She never got a job. Her employer told us that to get her back on H4 status we should go out of USA. We went to Canada for a day couple of weeks before the stamping expired. When we returned, at port of entry the officer renewed her I94 and put the expiry date at 2/15/2011. He also put "H4 PEND" on I94. I did not understand what it meant. In the passport they stamped expiry date without "H4 PEND".

Can you tell me what "H4 PEND" means?

I want to know is this enough for her legal status?
