Q.

H1B layoff and valid EAD

I had been working at Company A on my H1B till last week when I was laid off.My AoS(I-485) is pending(filed 08/10/2007).I have my AP approved(valid till 08/11/2010) and my EAD card(valid till 07/31/2010).My H1B was renewed recently, extending it till 09/30/2012.

Questions:
1.Given my circumstances,I am presently out of status, right? How long can I legally stay in US and search for a job?
2.Is my I-94 still valid?
3.How do my present circumstances impact the processing of my Green Card application?
4.Can I travel abroad and re-enter the US on the basis of my AP even if I am presently unemployed?
5.When I get a new job, will my new employer have to file a new H1B petition on my behalf or can my existing H1b petition be transferred? Can I begin work on the basis of my EAD card?
