Q.

Maintaining residence on H1B

I am currently on H1B visa. I might have to work outside USA for 2-3 months. Do I have to maintain full US residence for those months or can I use a friends' address as a care of (c/o) address for myself ? I am renting an apartment right now and thinking of giving it up for the period. Thanks!
