Q.

On OPT, R-1 pending, DV2012 winner.

I am a monk. I am here on F-1 doing my OPT since last May after graduating with a master’s degree in counseling psychology. I am employed by our bona fide organization to run a foster home, and has filed R-1 petition on my behalf at the end of March this year. On May 1st, I found out that I am a DV 2012 Program selectee! I am concerned that without your legal advice I might end up without R-1 or Diversity Visa. So, since my OPT ends on July 8, 2012; should I wait till “change of status” from F-1 to R-1 is approved , then later apply for “adjustment of status” based on the DV Program? How will I avoid being out of status while waiting for either of them, if at all? Or Will I have a better chance if I left for my home country right before the 60days grace period?
Thanks
