Q.

Does past immigration violation affect DV Lottery processing?

Hi

I worked in US on H1B Visa from 2006-08. On Nov 08, I was laid off and I overstayed for 8 weeks before I returned to my home country, Indonesia. Since then I have worked briefly in Indonesia and from October 2009 until now, I've been working in Singapore.

Last year, I applied for DV Lottery and I've been preselected for further processing.

My question is: will my past immigration violation make it difficult to obtain the green card during further processing/interview? Recently, I applied for B1 visa in Singapore and I was turned down; reasons given were: past immigration violation and that I haven't lived and worked long enough to show that I intend to stay in Singapore. Will these records make it difficult to obtain the green card?

Thanks
