Acceptable Reasons/Documents to get Greencard Stamp in Passport

My husband's green card was finally approved at our last interview 1 month ago. Because he was in deportation status during the application process, he hasn't been able to go back to Brazil. It is imperative that we travel to Br. asap due to our financial situation here. We haven't received the green card in the mail yet, & we have a trip planned in about 2 weeks. On Infopass, listed were examples of docs for reason of travel such as plane tickets, sick relative proof. We're traveling simply to access his assets there, & he will also work some while there. What reasons are permissible to leave? What docs are acceptable in order to receive the stamp in pport? Is it likely to get the stamp if we show them a flight itinerary & tell them we need to travel b/c we're financially struggling here?
