Family-based greencard: Inviting a relative when unemployed

Current status: currently unemployed H1b; got married to US citizen in June 2010 (civil ceremony); religious ceremony in October 2010. Indian relative attending wedding put down my name on visitor visa app form; has interview on 08/18/2010.
I also have a I-485 initial interview on 09/02/2010. So will my relative's visitor application affect my case/interview? Also what are the chances of my relative's visitor visa getting approved given I am not employed. I asked him to cancel & reschedule the visa without my name and instead put my wife's name (US citizen who is employed0 instead, as I cannot be a sponsor without a job. What is the best way to proceed with this case?
