Q.

h1b to f1 opt extension

I'm on my opt till nov 30th 2009(expiration date) and my employer filed h1b for this year and got approved(did not file change of status).

will it be effective from oct 1st 2009?
problem here is my employer asked me to apply for opt extension(17months) as i lost my job and he told me that my opt extension will be approved as he did not apply for change of status while filing h1b.

so in this case will my opt extension get approved or denied?

If opt extension gets denied how many days before should my employer file change of status from f1 to h1b as he has approval notice so that i will not be out of status.

thanks..
