Q.

Follow Up: Change of Status from H1B to F1

This a follow up to my earlier question. Sorry I want to be certain.

My 6 year H1B status ends on September 11th. I'm starting graduate school as a full time student with Teaching Assistantship this fall. The start date on the I-20 is Aug 19nd.

1) In form I-539, where do I specify the start date for the new status? "Part3. Processing Information" only asks for the end date of new status. Can you please point me to the exact location on the form?

2) If on August 19th my change of status is pending, I can quit my job (and hence the H1B status) and start school, correct? I can attend classes and wait till the approval before I start my assistantship, correct?

Thanks again.
