CPT - OPT Work authorization

[7:07 PM, 11/27/2017] +1 (347) 341-3307: Right now I am working with F1- CPT. I applied for OPT with starting data from Feb-12/2018. My CPT is ending on Dec 21/2017. I am working with a consulting company at the client workplace. I told my current situation with my employer They get back to me saying, they will not issue any paycheck for that period.

Is it ok work without salary? I am working on a long-term project, there is a high possibility of me getting hired by the client. But I have to work for them, at the client location, between CPT and OPT period.

What are my options? and alternatives? Any possibility that I can work from India with salary ?
