Q.

I 539 COS from H1B to F1

Filed I-539, receipt date june 20th 2011.vermont service center
Ph.D orientation is on august 22nd, UT health science center Houston. I am currently on H1B at University of Texas san antonio, i don't know if i am going get my approval before start date.

Q1. Can i register for classes while COS is pending and quitting the job(No H1B) before the school.

Q2. If i can register for classes, do i need to be in H1B status. My current employer is fine with that. I want to go to houston take classes till the COS is approved without pay from August 22 nd .But the problem is i cannot be at the site of work even though i am on H1. Can i do that taking leave without pay and being not at site till COS gets approved?

OR leave to india for stamping(last option)b cause i went in may2011..
