Reenter on a old visa after COS back to F-1

I came to US on F-1 on Dec'06. I did my MS and done COS to H-1B. I did COS back to F-1 and studied at another school. I transferred to TVU(Tri-valley) in JUly'10. As it was shutdown, my sevis has been terminated. Applied for reinstatement at another school and my interview is completed by ICE agent. I received an RFE and responded to it and now waiting for decision.I have never been out of US all this time and my passport has a valid visa till Nov'2011. As many students are crossing the border on a new I-20 with the old visa and making their sevis active, Can i also do that? As i did COS to H-1B and back to F-1 and have not gone out of USA, does my visa is valid for going out of country and renter on a old visa? Is it safe to reenter or wait for the Reinstatement decision from USCIS?
