I am an Indian citizen who has been working in the US for past 3 yrs on L1 visa which expired earlier this month. Before the expiry, I got a COS approved to H1. The new visa is not stamped yet. Now I have an admit from a university here and would like to start school in Jan
1. Can I apply for a COS to F1 without getting my H1 stamped? If yes, what is the process?
2. Do I have to quit my job before I apply for a F1? Or can I continue to work till my F1 is approved?
3. Can I start school with my COS still pending?
4. If my COS is rejected for any reason, will my H1 be still valid?
Please advice on the process and timeline for getting H1 stamped (if required), quitting job and applying for F1
