Q.

OPT EAD DELAY

I finished MS Comp.Science DEC,10.
I filed I-765 on Oct 18,10 and requested start date of Jan 1,11.Got receipt stating that docs are received and app is in process.App status is "Initial Review" at USCIS website.Upon querying in Jan,11,got status update in email that USCIS is doing additional review and is taking longer than normal and can contact USCIS if i don't receive any notice or information in next 6 months.
I am on valid F1 visa(6/2008-6/12) and got divorced in 09 by a GC which i also declared on I-765; no immigration benefits of any kind were ever filed to USCIS during marriage, does the divorce has any affect in this process?
6 months is lengthy time,Can i travel to home country while application is in process and come back, visa being valid till June 2012?
Too much confused.
