Q.

H1-B to F1 - Passport Renewal?

I am currently on H1-B working for last 3 years. I will be starting school in Fall 2010 so I will be leaving US on July 30, will go to Delhi Consulate and get F1 visa stamped and re-enter US on Aug 18th. I have following questions regarding this situation.

1) My passport expires on April 29th, 2011 and will complete 10 years. As mentioned above I will be entering with new F1 stamped to my passport on Aug 18th, 2010. I will still have more than 6 months for my passport to expire. Will I have any problem during stamping or re-entry?

2) Does 6 months rule mean the passport should be valid 6 months beyond entry to US or 6 months beyond the total visa duration?

Thanks & regards,
