OPT extension denial
I hold a MSE in computer engineering.My OPT expired on Jan 14 and I had applied for OPT extension on time . I just got the denial due to e-verify mismatch. My employer a reputed company gave me the Tax ID No. instead of the e-verify no. My employer was just going to file H1B for 2011. I had to stop work. My employer has now second thoughts on filing as they have to wait till Oct 1 to employ me.Is it safe to use the 60 days grace period I have? Should I file an MTR? What is the chance of success? How long could it take? If they eventually grant OPT extension can I work? If the MTR reply does nnot come in 60 days, I'll have to leave the country. Wont'I?
Would appreciate your valuable suggestions.
